A 43-year-old man was arrested in connection with a case involving a series of meat purchases made with stolen credit cards at a store on Columbia Street SW in Olympia.

According to an Olympia Police Department report, the store contacted law enforcement about the issue. The purchases included multiple orders of meat products, with the total estimated at more than $20,000.

The suspect provided different credit card information when making purchases, and in the latest transaction, he used a credit card information belonging to a woman.

The suspect, identified as Crecenciano Hernandez-Garcia, of Seattle, was arrested on Sept. 4 when he arrived at the store to pick up his latest order.

When responding officers arrived, they found a gray Ford F-150 loaded with boxes of meat. The suspect and a woman were detained at the scene. The woman was later released after investigators determined she had no direct involvement in the case.

Authorities were able to get a hold of the  fraud victim, who said she was is in possession of her credit card and had no idea how the suspect was able to get her information.

She further stated she did not give him permission to use her credit card and she would be pursuing charges against the suspect.

The police report states the suspect attempted to delete photos and messages from his phone while he was detained in the interrogation room.

His phone was confiscated to preserve potential evidence. In addition to the meat boxes, receipts and a debit card connected to the suspect were also collected during the search.

Hernandez-Garcia was booked into the Thurston County Corrections Facility. He faces charges of first-degree possession of stolen property, tampering with physical evidence, obstructing a law enforcement officer and making a false statement to a public servant.
