A 34-year-old man was arrested following a disturbance at an apartment complex on Israel Road SW in Tumwater
The Tumwater Police Department said in a report that responding officers arrived in the area around 8:20 p.m. on Aug. 18 after calls about two men arguing outside one of the units.
When police arrived, they saw a red Ford Edge in the parking lot with its doors open. Witnesses told officers one of the men involved had just left the area on foot.
Authorities contacted Joshua C. Carpenter, of Olympia, who matched the description provided. A witness later identified Carpenter as the man who had followed her earlier that evening until she arrived at the apartment complex, allegedly making sexual remarks to her.
She then knocked on her friend’s unit and told him about the suspect. The resident then asked the suspect to leave but instead of leaving, the suspect wanted to fight him.
The friend informed authorities that, “he kicked the male (suspect) a single time to which the male fell down the stairs. The male then proceeded to walk away.”
Police confirmed the Ford Edge on scene had been reported stolen earlier in the day from Lacey Senior Center at 6757 Pacific Avenue SE. Carpenter was identified as being associated with the vehicle and was taken into custody.
The vehicle’s registered owner was later contacted and retrieved the car.
Carpenter was medically cleared at Capital Medical Center in Olympia before being booked into Thurston County Corrections Facility on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle.
