Local authorities are seeking the public's help in locating a man wanted for allegedly shooting another person last week in Tenino.
The incident was reported by the victim in the late afternoon on Aug. 28 in the 2600 block of Angus Drive SE.
The victim, who called 911 after being shot, said that he knew the shooting suspect. John Cooper, 69, was identified as the suspect in the shooting that apprently stemmed from a personal dispute.
Cooper is a white male, stands 5 feet 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 190 pounds.
When Thurston County Sheriff's Office deputies arrrived on scene they found a 58-year-old male with a gunshot wound to arm, the sheriff's office said in a news release on Aug. 29.
Aid was rendered to the victim before he was transported to a local hospital where, at the time, he was in stable condition and expected to survive.
"The suspect fled the scene prior to deputies arrival," said the sheriff's office in a news release on Aug. 29.
"Both subjects live in different residences on the same property and based on information known at this time they were involved in a personal dispute that had been going on most of the day prior to the shooting."
The suspect was seen leaving the scene in a gold sport utility vehicle, although Cooper is no longer associated with the vehicle. Authorities searched for Cooper throughout the night.
"Eventually they determined that he was dropped off at an address in Oakville, but he was not there by the time they discovered this information," said the sheriff's office.
"It appears the subject continues to move locations in order to avoid being arrested."
Anyone with information about the incident or the location of Cooper is encouraged to call 911 of the sheriff's office dispatch nonemergency line at 360-704-2740.
