'March for Families' to take place in Olympia on July 26

The latest in a series of protests against federal policies will take to the streets of Olympia this weekend.

Olympia Indivisible, the Washington chapter of the national Indivisible movement, said demonstrators will march from the Washington Captiol Campus to Hertiage Park on Saturday, July 26.

Demonstrators will march along Capitol Way S to 5th Avenue SW in downtown Olympia, and then turn left toward Heritage Park where the march ends.

"At the park, enjoy live music and get connected to real opportunities for political action. Please bring a sign if you’re able," said Olympia Indvisible in a note on its website.

The event, which is being billed as "March for Families, Not Billionaires," starts at 12:30 p.m. and ends at 3:30 p.m.

"If you’re able, please bring a donation of non-perishable food for the Thurston County Food Bank. Collection boxes will be available at both the Capitol and the park," Olympia Indivisible said.

The march is taking place six weeks after thousands of people participated in the "No Kings" protest at the Capitol Campus on June 14.

The protest, also organized by Olympia Indivisible, was one of more than 2,000 that took place around the country in opposition of policies enacted by President Donald Trump since he took office in January.

Well at least we got an announcement slightly before the event rather than after.
