“March for Our Rights” rally upstaged by actor Sacha Baron Cohen

Posted

OLYMPIA –– The actor Sacha Baron Cohen, famous for movies like “Borat” and “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” was widely reported on social media to have made an uninvited participant in the “March For Our Rights”  rally in Olympia on Saturday. The group aligns itself with right-wing positions on political issues.

“March for Our Rights” this year had live music at the event, one of which was a last-minute band booked by the production company that helped plan the event, the event’s main organizer said in a video on social media

Baron Cohen,  or someone using his tactics, performed as the lead singer of a fake band of which the name is unknown, and sang at least one song during his performance. One song referred to “chopping them up,” and “gassing them like the Germans do,” and referenced Antifa, Mexico, “sleepy Joe Biden” and a variety of other groups, countries and topics hotly debated in American discourse.

This story will be updated.
