A survey participation window regarding proposed code amendments for housing in the City of Olympia has been extended.
An opportunity to weigh in on the Middle Housing Survey sunsets on Thursday, May 15.
"The City of Olympia is proposing zoning code amendments for housing. This is directly related to the State of Washington amendments to the Growth Management Act, which contains specific requirements for cities to implement for a variety of “middle” housing types," the city said on a web page dedicated to the issue.
"Related amendments also include Accessory Dwelling Units and Co-Living Housing. The first draft is issued for public review and comment. At least one additional draft is anticipated prior to a public hearing (which is not yet scheduled)."
The city defines middle housing, which is a key component of its housing strategy, as "a range of housing types that can provide more than one housing unit per lot in a way that is compatible in scale with single-family houses and contain two or more attached, stacked, or clustered homes including duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, fiveplexes, sixplexes, townhouses, stacked flats, courtyard apartments, and cottage housing."
