A Thurston County man suffered minor injuries on the 4th of July after he was shot by a deputy several times for allegedly pointing a weapon at authorities.

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) said deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence incident in the 7500 block of 14th Avenue NE on yesterday.

According to a TCSO news release, “a male caller indicated the police needed to respond before he kills someone and hung up.”

Two deputies arrived at the scene and were greeted at the door by a man pointing a weapon at them. TCSO did not state what the weapon was.

One deputy then shot the man several times, causing “minor” injuries.

The Region 3 Critical Incident Investigative Team was called in to handle the investigation into the incident and will have the Gray’s Harbor Sheriff’s Office

(GHSO) leading the Probe. GHSO will provide future information on the case.
