More wind and rain in the forecast, flood watch remains in effect for Thurston County

A steady dose of rain remains in the forecast for Thurston County, as does a flood watch because of the amount of precipitation in the region over the past week.

The National Weather Service Office in Seattle extended outlook calls for an 80 percent chance of rain on Thursday evening, Dec. 18, with between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch of precipitation possible. The overnight low should be around 37 degrees with a west, southwest wind of 6 to 16 miles per hour (mph) and gusts as high as 31 mph.

The chance of rain is 80 percent on Friday, Dec. 19, mainly before 1 p.m., and then showers and possibly a thunderstorm. New rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch are possible, with higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The daytime high should be near 44 degrees with a south, southwest wind of 8 to 13 mph. The flood watch is scheduled to sunset at 4 p.m. on Friday.

There is a 90 percent chance of precipitation on Friday evening, possibly mixed with snow. Little or no snow accumulation is expected. The overnight low should be around 38 degrees.

The forecast is equally gloomy on Saturday, Dec. 20, with a 100 percent chance of precipitation and similar rainfall totals as Friday. The daytime high should be near 45 degrees with south wind around 11 to 14 mph and gusts as high as 22 mph.

There is an 80 percent chance of precipitation on Saturday evening, with new rainfall amounts between one-tenth and one-quarter of an inch possible. The overnight low should be around 39 degrees.

Rain remains in the forecast through Tuesday, Dec. 23. Forecasts are subject to change.
