An unidentified individual was hospitalized after crashing a motorcycle at a high rate of speed while allegedly trying to elude a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office deputy in the Rainier area on Saturday, June 21.
The deputy spotted the motorcyclist, described as riding recklessly, during the course of a traffic stop conducted by a sergeant.
“When the deputy conducted a U-turn, the rider accelerated and immediately crashed into a field at a high rate of speed,” said Sheriff Derek Sanders in a social media post on June 21.
“The rider was transported to the hospital by medics and will be referred to the prosecutor for one count of attempting to elude and driving without a license. The rider is not in custody at this time to prevent taxpayers from being liable for any medical expenses, and instead will likely have a future court date.”
As for the traffic stop, it turned out the unidentified driver had a felony warrant for assault in the second degree (domestic violence) and unlawful imprisonment (domestic violence) out of Pierce County. The suspect was later extradited back to Pierce County.
