Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder spoke briefly and quoted novelist George R.R. Martin who is credited with having written, "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.”
Besides books, the mayor also celebrated the additional services now available for check-out from the Hawks Prairie branch, including children's tablet computers and audiobooks, and free use of computers and the internet inside the branch.
