North Thurston Public Schools is going to unveil the newly modernized Rajinder Manhas Activity Center (RMAC) South with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

The event, which begins at 5 p.m., is taking place at Sleater-Kinney Road and Martin Way.

“Thanks to voter support, this beautiful new facility is now home to Ignite Family Academy (the NTPS family partnership program), The NTPS Family & Youth Resource Center, South Sound Reading Foundation, Student Records and Archives,” the district stated in a social media post about the unveiling.

Superintendent Troy Oliver will welcome guests, followed by remarks from North Thurston Public Schools Board of Directors President Esperanza-Badillo-Diiorio.

The district has engaged in multiple modernization efforts, including River Ridge High School and the Lacey Education and Family (LEAF) Center.

Last year, the district unveiled a newly renovated student commons at River Ridge, which had been in the works since 2022. A five-year modernization project for the school is slated to end in 2027.

The LEAF Center is designed to serve around 600 students with indoor and outdoor preschool spaces, a commercial kitchen, and a library to serve students and families.

The center wil also house family-friendly spots as a venue for parenting classes and other agencies for on-site health and wellness support.
