November 25 is ‘Small Business Saturday’ in Lacey

Posted

Lacey officially proclaimed the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 25, as Small Business Saturday to celebrate and support the contributions of local small businesses to the city’s economy.

“Lacey supports our local businesses that create jobs, boost our local economy, and preserve our communities,” the proclamation read.

According to the city council, advocacy groups and public and private organizations have endorsed said celebration this November.

Blake Knoblauch, director of the Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce, attended the council’s meeting on November 16 to accept the proclamation and said it is an “honor and privilege” to have a great partnership between the small business owners and the city council.

The Lacey South Sound Chamber of Commerce has over 350 members who benefit from marketing and exposure opportunities, networking opportunities, business referral and support, and other services.

According to the council’s latest data, 32.2 million small businesses are currently in the United States. These businesses employ over 47.3% of employees in the private sector. Small businesses in the country are also responsible for creating 63% of new jobs over the past 20 years.

It's great City of Lacey is recognizing Small Business Saturday with this proclamation. The first Saturday after Thanksgiving is Small Business Saturday across the country and every year.

Yes, let's shop small, locally-owned businesses on November 25th and everyday to keep more of our money circulating here in our community and benefiting our local economy and workers instead of being sent to corporate headquarters in far-off places.
