Observer training is being offered for the Aug. 5 primary election in Thurston County.
The training will take place via Zoom on Tuesday, July 15 at 5:30 p.m., the Thurston County Auditor's Office said in an announcement.
"Ballot processing is monitored on-site by trained observers appointed by the Republican and Democratic parties and independent observers," the Auditor's Office said.
"We are committed to ensuring ballot processing is open and transparent. Observers can ask questions of full-time elections staff as long as it doesn’t inhibit ballot processing. "
Interested parties can also contact Thurston County Elections at elections@co.thurston.wa.us or 360.786.5408.
"Observer training covers election procedure and observer policy. Training is mandatory for observers appointed by their political party. However, the training is also open to the public," the Auditor's Office said.
People with disabilities requiring special accommodation should contact Tillie Naputi-Pullar at 360-786-5408, or deaf and hard of hearing should dial 711.

After you're trained, then what happens? A job description would be nice prior to training or everyone is wasting their time

Observing will reveal the true backbone of our election process: a temp army of people - all neighbors — so diverse in motivation they can’t be corrupted to sway a race.
