The Olympia’s Arts Commission has recommended 15 pieces of art for consideration by the Olympia City Council, as part of the 2026 Percival Plinth Project exhibition.
According to Arts Program Manager Stephanie Johnson, a jury reviewed 31 applications. One member of the jury was Arts Commission Vice Chair Kat Ransom.
Commissioner Jim Burlingame said this year’s selections reflect a wide range of materials and artistic styles, from monochromatic works to vibrant color.
Unlike in previous years, when artists could submit multiple entries, Johnson noted that this year’s pool reflected a trend of one artist per submission.
The selected works are:
If approved by the city council, the pieces of art will be installed at Percival Plinth Landing in June. A community celebration will follow to welcome the new installations and launch a one-month public voting period for the People’s Prize.
The recommendations will be placed on the city council's agenda for March 3.
