Olympia Federal Savings reported total assets of more than $1 billion at the end of the first quarter, as the financial institution continued to keep its expenses in check.

For the first quarter ended June 30, Olympia Federal Savings reported assets of $1.02 million. That marked an increase of $11 million since the start of the fiscal year on April 1.

The bank also reported net loans climbed $6.8 million quarter over quarter, and additional asset growth was fueled by investment and cash increases of $2.7 million.

“This was a great start to our new fiscal year, as our expenses came in below budget and we were able to gain efficiencies through new technologies, systems and processes,” said Olympia Federal Savings President and CEO Josh Deck in a statement on Aug. 5.

“Two of our biggest strategic initiatives this year are enhancing our customer experience and building on our culture of excellence. A lot of great work is being done across the bank to optimize workflows, improve productivity, deliver top-notch service and equip our teams with the tools, resources and learning opportunities to be our area’s best local bank.”

The bank also announced that charitable giving totaled more than $76,000 in the first quarter, while employee volunteer time exceeded 400 hours of service. Bank employees serve on either the board of directors or committees of more than 35 community-based organizations.

“I am incredibly proud of how our team continues to show up and lead in our community,” said Deck in a statement. “It’s incredibly inspiring to see the impact of our investments on the local quality of life for our neighbors who call our area home.”

Olympia Federal Savings is generous in consistently helping out a variety of charities in our local communities. I don't know if many other local banks do that.

Patmer is right on. Olympia Federal has been a generous donor to an animal charity I volunteer with & they are truly an asset to our community.
