Olympia Garden Club Meeting

Posted by NjJunk

The Olympia Garden Club is a group of men and women with a vital interest in gardening, conservation, and floral design. They also serve the community by helping beautify and maintain certain public areas.

Visitors are invited to the next meeting on Thursday, October 29, at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1925 Boulevard Rd, SE, Olympia.

Gathering begins around 9 a.m. with a social time to view horticulture displays and purchase plants donated by members.

October’s program, which begins at 10 a.m., features Marisha Auerbach’s Introduction to Permaculture. She will explain how permaculture merges “permanent” and “agriculture” to create sustainable, productive systems that thrive in harmony with nature.

This holistic land management approach meets human needs while actively preserving the environment, and it works across urban gardens and large-scale farms by closely observing natural ecosystems.

After the program, you will eat lunch and have a business meeting which includes floral design tips, a talk about bird habitat, and Chairpersons reporting on club projects.

A current project is the annual Merrie Makings Sale where members create wreaths, centerpieces, memorial pillows and more. Proceeds from the sale support grants we provide to local schools for gardening projects.

Members bring their own lunch and beverage cups. Coffee and tea are provided.
