Olympia holds traffic box art contest

Olympia will be dressing up its traffic boxes.

The city’s arts commission is holding a contest choosing artwork that will be displayed as vinyl wraps on traffic boxes around the city.

Artists from in and around Olympia have submitted their artwork and the works with the top ten votes will be used on traffic boxes located on the city’s sidewalks and street corners and their creators receive a $500 prize.

According to the city’s website, the project is meant to beautify the community, discourage graffiti on the traffic boxes and minimize maintenance.

Voting is currently going on with the result of the contest set to be announced this spring.
