Senior Program Specialist Erin Conine and Associate Planner Susan McCleary, both from the Public Works Water Resources Division, presented the 2026 Water Resources Stewardship Through Art calendar. It showcases creative works from an art contest.

Now in its seventh year, the art contest invites middle school students from public, private and home schools in Olympia to promote stormwater pollution prevention and water conservation practices.

“After the artwork was selected, we added supplemental information to the key message for each month. We are happy to have these students help us spread awareness about these practices through their art,” Conine said.

Mayor Dontae Payne thanked the students who participated, saying the young artists are already making a meaningful contribution to environmental awareness.

Council member Robert Vanderpool added that the calendar is widely appreciated and people often comment on the artwork when they see it displayed.

The calendar will be available at City Hall and distributed to local schools.
