Olympia invites community to discuss Capital Mall Triangle Subarea Plan Thursday

Important impacts on community with large area property development in the works

Olympia is calling on community members to attend an open house on the Capital Mall Triangle Subarea Plan on Thursday, February 2, from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

The meeting, which will also discuss the project’s Planned Action Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), will be held in person at the Capital Mall meeting room located near the movie theater across from the Stack 571 restaurant.

“The EIS will identify potential significant adverse environmental impacts of three different development scenarios and identify mitigation measures,” the city said in a press release.

The city pointed out three choices that attendees will discuss to refine the EIS analysis:

  • The existing baseline conditions,
  • A moderate approach with some additional actions taken by the city to help facilitate a change toward the vision for the area as described in the adopted Olympia Comprehensive Plan;
  • Substantial actions and investment to spur a significant move toward the Comprehensive Plan vision for the area.

Concerned community members may contact Community Planning and Development Senior Planner David Ginther at 360-753-8335 or via triangle@ci.olympia.wa.us.
