Olympia man arrested anew after allegedly trespassing, assaulting officers

'Violent chronic problem offender’

An Olympia man previously described by law enforcement as a “violent chronic problem offender” was arrested anew after allegedly trespassing and assaulting police officers.

Kenneth Michael Stenek, 37, was arrested on Oct. 24 after Union Gospel Mission on Franklin Street NE reported that a trespasser arrested the day prior had returned to their property.

A responding officer wrote in his report that he knew the man, later identified as Stenek, from previous contacts, adding that the suspect “sometimes becomes volatile and requires several officers.”

Authorities arrived to find Stenek seated inside the property, surrounded by multiple other people who were asleep. Asked about his arrest the previous night and why he returned, Stenek told police, “I got released from jail, and where am I supposed to go?”

Police told Stenek that he was under arrest for trespassing, but the suspect refused to comply with orders and pretended to be asleep instead.

Eventually, Stenek opened his eyes, began to stand, and extended his right hand to an officer in what appeared to be a handshake. The officer said he reached out to grab Stenek’s hand, at which point the suspect squeezed him and pulled him closer.

Other officers tried to gain control of Stenek’s left arm, but the suspect kept resisting. Police then grabbed Stenek’s legs and pinned him to the ground to place him in handcuffs.

As Stenek was being escorted out of the property, he kicked an officer in the groin with his right foot, prompting police to place him in a restraint system.

Once inside a patrol car, Stenek bit the right arm of an officer who was trying to put a seatbelt on him.

Stenek was booked into the Thurston County Jail for third-degree assault, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.

A search of The JOLT's police blotters shows Stenek has been arrested eight times this year.

"Released from jail, where am I supposed to go?" Well, conducting himself in the same manner that got him arrested and jailed in the first place tells me, maybe he should go to jail permanently. At least there they know how to handle people who refuse to conduct themselves like human beings.

These types of offenders ALL need to go to Western State. They should not be allowed to roam loose in our streets and neighborhoods. If they are not locked up then the City, County and State should be held Responsible 100%.

Schnauzer, I have to disagree with you. This clown, like all of the miscreants on our streets, is a fully functioning adult. He's not mentally ill. He's just a shlug. The mentally ill person is the one who's sitting at the bus stop talking to Elvis and wants to introduce you.

This shlug is just someone who wants to be babied like he was when he was a two year old..fed, watered, clothed, entertained, housed, provided his drugs of choice, and not be bothered with actually contributing to society. Notice his whining and actions when he was being arrested. He throws a tantrum. Biting? Kicking? He's not mentally ill. He's a spoiled baby. Bet you two bucks he didn't graduate from high school.

The bureaucracy shouldn't be held accountable for the actions of the shlugs.

Maybe, Arisuudana, since you're buds, you should give him a place to sleep, maybe get a shower, and just chill.

You claimed these people aren't crazy, all I said was that I knew him and that's not the case.

Now you are suggesting I am supportive of him being homeless or someshit because that's your usual goto whenever questioned on your nonsense I am guessing.
