Olympia’s furry friends will have plenty of room to play as the city opened three new dog parks this week.

The City of Olympia announced the opening of three new dog parks today. They are located at:

  • Evergreen Park at 1445 Evergreen Park Dr. SW
  • McLane Park at 4421 Mud Bay Rd NW
  • Ward Lake at 2008 Yelm Highway SE.

The parks are equipped with new facilities such as pathways, ramps, railings, concrete paths, fenced areas, and parking stalls. The city also reminded park-goers to bring their own water and dog-waste bags and to observe the rules that are posted within the park. Currently, the city is also looking for volunteers to serve as dog stewards.

Based on the previous report (see related stories) the city spent approximately $307,211. 61 for the construction of the three parks. The announcement came after residents have expressed the need for a designated off-leash dog park following the closure of Sunrise Park in 2013.
