Homeless site, Panattoni on Port of Olympia agenda

Meeting set for Monday night

At its meeting on Monday, Sept. 28, the Olympia Port Commission will consider an amendment to Panattoni’s 10-year lease option for 199 acres of land in Tumwater, which it approved in mid-July. International developer Panattoni will pay $353,676 per year for this lease option.

Included in this amendment is a proposed development agreement for the site between the port and the City of Tumwater.  The port is also asking Panattoni for up to $35,000 to cover its costs in implementing the development agreement, according to Allyn Roe, the port’s real estate and business development director.

A discussion of how the port will select a new homeless mitigation site is also on the agenda for Monday’s meeting. Last week county police removed several homeless campers from port property at Harper Street Southwest and 75th Avenue Southwest in Tumwater at the request of the port.

The Port Commission meets Monday at 5:30 pm.
