Members of the Olympia School District Board of Directors proclaimed April 20-26 as Public School Volunteer Week.
At a meeting on Thursday, April 10, Board Vice President Jess Tourtellotte-Palumbo led the reading of the proclamation document.
“We, the members of the Olympia school board and the superintendent do hereby proclaim the week of April 20 through 26, 2025, as public school volunteer week in the Olympia school district. And we urge all staff, students, and citizens of the Olympia school district to join us in the special observance signed this 10th of day of April, 2025,” Tourtellotte-Palumbo read.
The document stated that the district has more than 3,600 registered volunteers, who provide a valuable partnership with the community and are an integral part of student learning.
“Volunteers inspire success in students while nurturing and challenging them to extend beyond their reach,” the proclamation stated.
