As part of its effort to preserve affordable housing, the City of Olympia is seeking qualified contractors to help rehabilitate a 12-unit multifamily building at 1024 Prospect Ave. NE through a federally funded improvement project.
Olympia is soliciting bids from qualified contractors to provide labor, materials, equipment and supervision for the rehabilitation of the occupied building. The project is intended to support the city’s goals of preserving and improving its affordable housing stock.
The total cost of work across all project components is expected to remain below $250,000.
The rehabilitation project is funded through the federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program, which provides resources for affordable housing improvements. Because the project uses federal funding, contractors will be required to comply with federal labor standards, contracting regulations and domestic-sourcing requirements.
Rather than issuing a single contract, the city plans to release separate solicitations for individual trade disciplines on a staggered schedule.
The first solicitation, which is for window replacement, is scheduled to be issued on June 3. Contractors interested in bidding must be registered in the “Facilities – Residential (General)” category of the Multiple Research and Services Center (MRSC) Small Works Roster for the City of Olympia, no later than 3 p.m. on June 3.
The city also anticipates future solicitations for exterior painting, siding replacement, concrete repairs and installation of ductless mini-split heat pumps, although dates for those bid opportunities have not yet been determined.
For questions and inquiries, send an email to CDBG Program Specialist Anastasia Everett at aeverett@ci.olympia.wa.us.
Future solicitation schedules will be posted as project needs and funding availability are finalized. Contractors must be registered on the MRSC Small Works Roster at the time each solicitation is issued to be eligible to submit bids.
