One person arrested following fatal shooting in Grand Mound

A fatal shooting in Grand Mound led to the arrest of the victim’s family member, according to a Thurston County Sheriff’s Office report.

Deputies were called to a residence on 201st Avenue SW at around 7 a.m. on Sept. 14 after a 911 call about a shooting. When deputies arrived, they found an individual suffering from gunshot wounds.

Responding deputies provided emergency aid until other first repsonders arrived to continue medical efforts. Despite the measures, the victim, described as being in the mid-20s, died at the scene. 

Investigators gathered evidence, conducted interviews and executed search warrants. Based on the findings, detectives established probable cause to arrest a family member in connection with the incident.  

The suspect was taken into custody on a charge of first-degree manslaughter and booked into the Thurston County Corrections Facility. The sheriff's office did not identify the suspect in its report.

 Authorities said the investigation is ongoing, and additional details would be released as the case develops. The identity of the victim was not released.

 “Our hearts go out to the family and friends as they grieve this tragic loss. We recognize the deep impact this has on loved ones and the community,” said the sheriff's office in a statement.
