Gas prices on the rise in Olympia

Posted

The average price of regular unleaded gasoline climbed nearly 12 cents in Olympia over the last week amid a growing conflict in the Middle East that has put upward pressure on the oil market.

The price of regular unleaded gas weighed in at $4.545 per gallon on Friday, March 6. That was up from $4.426 on Friday, Feb. 27, according to data compiled by AAA.

One year ago, the average price stood at $4.148 per gallon. Olympia is one of 14 markets in the state that is tracked by AAA.

Gas prices have been on the upswing in the state and nation since the United States and Israel launched coordinated military operations against Iran last week.

The state of Washington notched the second highest average price for regular unleaded in the country at $4.494 on Friday. California led the pack at $4.905 per gallon.

The highest average price for regular unleaded gas in Washington was posted in the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett market at $4.702 per gallon on Friday. The lowest average price was recorded in the Clarkson market at $3.799 per gallon.

Gas prices could climb in the days ahead given a swift rise in the cost of crude oil.

A barrel of West Texas Intermediate crude, a benchmark for oil pricing in the United States, closed at $90.90 per barrel for April delivery on Friday. That was up from $67.02 a week earlier, New York Mercantile Exchange data showed.

Of note, in my home state, Missouri, gas is $2.84 a gallon. Up some in the last week as well. The difference is the state tax and the cap and trade law which goes up 2% every year. Probably this last week. The democrats , not the Feds, are determining how unaffordable the state is. You voted for it!

Thanks to the orange dotard wannabe oligarch con artist who campaigned on ending the endless Ukraine war on “day one”. The reason Dump is doing this is to reset Middle East so he and Kushner can build mega MAGA resorts where the Palestinians that Israel slaughtered used to live and enrich themselves, NOT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE. More chaos from the king of chaos. That rash on the side of his orange melon can’t eat his head fast enough.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The current Climate Commitment Act is the most regressive tax in state history. There is a better way!
