Pavement marking work in downtown Olympia

Posted

A pavement marking project is going to make the drive a little more difficult for motorists on some streets in downtown Olympia.

The project, which started on Thursday, Sept. 11, calls for a contractor to install the new pavement markings on a number of streets.

The work is going to be performed during daytime hours, as long as the weather holds up.

Travelers can expect lane restrictions and traffic delays and should choose an alternate route if possible," said the City of Olympia Public Works Department in a construction and traffic alert.

"Flaggers will direct motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists through the construction areas. Access to driveways may be temporarily disrupted during the pavement marking process."

Pavement marking is scheduled to take place on Eastside Street form 12th Avenue to Wheeler Avenue, 10th Avenue from Adams Street to Cherry Street and Union Avenue at Cherry Street.

When are they going to repave downtown?? It’s been like driving on a washboard logging road for years. Uneven. Undulating. Every thing bit level and smooth. It seems there’s repaving going on all over Washington right now except the state’s capital. What kind of image does this project to out of town visitors?
