A variety of options ranging from pie baking to cider pressing and live music await attendees of Harvest Festival on Oct. 4.
The Thurston Conservation District is hosting Harvest Festival at South Union Grange Hall, 10030 Tilley Road SW #860, Olympia, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The family-friendly event also features a soil test drop-off and information booth, native bulb and seed sale pick-up, knife and tool sharpening vendor, workshops, throughout the day, arts and craft activities, food vendors and information booths.
People are invited to compete in the TCD Harvest Fest Pie Contest. Entries must be submitted by 11 a.m. on Oct. 4, at South Union Grange Hall. Judging will occur at noon, followed by award announcements.
Categories include two- or one-crust fruit pies, custard and nut pies, savory pies, and allergen-free pies. There is also a category for youth entries.
Contestants must include a copy of their recipe and follow the guidelines published on the event's website.
Individuals who placed a pr-order at the Native Bulb & Seed Sale should have their orders available for pick up at the Harvest Festival.
Bulbs and seeds are on a preorder only and will not be available for purchase at the Harvest Festival.
Cider pressing
The festival will allow people to bring apples to press into cider. A kid-friendly press will also be available.
Organizers are requesting people bring clean bottles for filling or purchase the festival’s custom half-gallon growlers on site.
All the sanitation and preparatory materials can be used throughout the day.
