The intersection of 5th Avenue and Washington Street will be closed to thru traffic in order for Transgender flag markings to be installed on Tuesday, June 2.
The closure will run from 6 p.m. on Tuesday to 5 a.m. on Wednesday, June 3.
"Street and sidewalk detours will be in place. Please follow alternate routes and obey all traffic control," said the City of Olympia Public Works Department in a construction and traffic alert.
The work is similar to markings recently installed at the intersection of Columbia Street and Legion Way.

So hateful and something to get people worked up over. Why do our politiicans do that? People should be free to make decisions for themselves. Doing this can result in bad things to many people.

This is exactly the kind of woke shenanigans that cost the Democrats the last election. Having gay business shoved in our faces. It DOESN’T need or have to be advertised!

What a crock of s**t! This is a waste of our resources and shouldn't be any part of city policy. Yes, it could be interpreted as signaling tolerance of personal choice, but really.... is that the job of the City at all? How people choose to live is entirely their choice and shouldn't be encouraged or discouraged by city council.

Seeing Pride colors always makes me so happy and proud to be a member of this community.
I love Oly & I believe that all people deserve respect & dignity, no matter who they are, how they dress, what their dog looks like, and who they love. (Based on what the Bible says, this is how Jesus rolls as well.)
Part of building a stronger & more resilient community is making sure everyone in the community feels welcomed and respected.
Rainbows on the streets may upset some people, but I see them for what they are: a joyful celebration of our neighbors & friends; a reminder that no matter where on the rainbow of life you find yourself, this is a community that stands together, and includes everyone.

The already painted crosswalks look great! I love how the start of sunny days coincides with these vibrant colors added to celebrate community member identities.
