Police shooting in Thurston County under investigation

Authorities are investigating a police shooting Monday afternoon in Thurston County.

The Region 3 Critical Incident Investigation Team is probing the shooting that occurred on Old Highway 99 near Violet Prairie Road SW, the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office stated.

The incident started with a pursuit in Lewis County that made its way toward Tenino, according to information from the Tenino Police Department.

Schools in Tenino had to be put on lockdown during the chase, the Tenino School District announced in it a Facebook post, until 12:18 p.m., after it was reported that the pursuit was headed for Tenino and shots were fired.

Multiple media reports indicate that one suspect was killed and another was injured in the incident.

The Washington State Patrol tweeted that the ramp from northbound I-5 to Milepost 88 and Old Highway 99/State Route 12 at I-5, in both directions, will be blocked for the investigation.
