Pope John Paul II High School in Lacey was named the best private high school in Thurston County for the second consecutive year by the school-matching platform Niche.
The school was also honored this year as the No. 1 STEM high school in Thurston County and the No. 5 best Catholic high school in Washington.
Pope John Paul II High School serves grades nine through 12 with a rigorous college preparatory education grounded in a Catholic framework.
The rankings highlight the institution’s commitment to academic excellence, faith formation, and the development of future leaders, according to an announcement from the school about the rankings.
“The recognition as the top STEM high school in Thurston County reflects the school’s strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and math education, as well as hands-on learning opportunities that prepare students for success in college and beyond,” the announcement states.

Isn't there only one other private high school in the county? And I think they are the flavor of Christian that wastes a bunch of time talking about how Noah's Ark totally happened.

I've worked shoulder to shoulder with some of the kids from this school, and was impressed how sharp and mature they were, and willing to work until the work - helping make lunches for the homeless in downtown Olympia - was done. The ones I talked with also had a plan as to what they planned to do after graduating.
