Presidential Primary Elections ballots on the way, observer training Thursday

As the March 12 Presidential Primary Election approaches, the Office of the Secretary of State has distributed the voters’ pamphlets to all households in Thurston County starting last week, February 14.

Regular ballots for the upcoming election are set to be mailed on February 21.

The pamphlets serve as a comprehensive guide for voters with information about candidates and ballot measures.

Voters who have yet to receive a pamphlet in the mail can access the online version on both the Washington Voters portal and the Thurston County website.

Observer training

The Thurston County Auditor’s Elections Division will also host an observer training on February 22 at 5:30 p.m. which will be conducted via Zoom, aims to educate participants on election procedures and observer policies.

Other activities

Various events are also scheduled on the days leading up to the election.

Beginning Tuesday, February 27, there will be a ballot processing, which will continue until certification at the Ballot Processing Center located at 2905 29th Avenue SW Ste F, Tumwater, Washington 98512.

The logic and accuracy test for accessible voting units will begin on February 26 at 9 a.m., while the test for the tabulation system will begin on Monday, February 27 at 9 a.m., which will also be held at the Ballot Processing Center.

The operation of the voting assistance locations will commence starting tomorrow, February 21, at the Thurston County Auditor’s Election Division Voting Center and Lacey Timberland Library Vote Center. Below are the details.

The Thurston County Canvassing Board will convene on multiple occasions to address matters such as questionable ballots and voter intent, as well as meet for the election certification scheduled during the final canvassing board meeting on March 22nd.

After certification, the final precinct results will be available on March 29.

Voters are reminded of the voting center regulations, including electioneering prohibitions and weapons possession restrictions.
