Primary election: Here are near-final results

Posted

When all 58,927 ballots are counted from the August 1 primary, some 30.7% of voters will have participated.

As of 4:02 p.m. today, only 475 votes remain to be counted, according to the Thurston County Auditor's office's estimate.

Potential surprises tomorrow

The final 475 votes might contain surprises for a few candidates who are vying for second place, although there is no data available about which precincts these ballots are from. If the ballots are concentrated in one or two districts, there might be surprising results tomorrow.

In the race for the new Port Commissioner District No. 4, Maggie Sanders has 375 votes more than Joanna Manson.

In the race for North Thurston Public Schools School Board Director, District 4, Esperanza A. Badillo-Diiorio currently has 158 votes more than Tiana Kleinhoff.

In the race for Olympia School District School Board Director District 1, Taluana Reed has 83 more votes than Andrew M. Flojo. Reed was appointed to her current position in District 2 in October 2022 but relocated her residence since her appointment. As a result, she was not eligible to run for election to the District 2 seat.

Fire Districts and Authorities

Fire restoration levies require approval by a simple majority vote; excess levies require 60 percent approval. The only excess levy was from McLane Black Lake District 9; its voters are approving the measure by more than 70 percent.
