To showcase the South Sound area, naturalist and environmental educator Laura Busby will be the onboard educator of the Puget Sound Estuarium Benefit Cruise on a private yacht on Aug. 16.

Busby has experience in urban nature centers, historical farms, schools, state and national parks and zoos.

Busby’s work as a naturalist and environmental educator across various settings and organizations has shaped her professional career, said the estuarium in announcing the benefit cruise.

Tickets for the daylong cruise are priced at $475, plus processing fees, and can be purchased online. Tickets are nonrefundable after Aug. 9.

Proceeds from the cruise directly support the estuarium's mission to inspire stewardship of the Salish Sea through hands-on environmental education.

"This cruise is about more than just having a wonderful time connecting with the Puget Sound on the water, it is also about reinvigorating our love and empathy for these irreplaceable habitats and animals,” said Puget Sound Estuarium Design and Communitcations Manager Kylie Rench, in the announcement.

The yacht will leave Port of Olympia Port Plaza at 10 a.m. and return around 4 p.m. There is a surprise location for the lunch off the yacht.
