Rain in the forecast for opening night of Capital City Pride Festival

An incoming storm could put a damper on the opening night of the Capital City Pride Festival in downtown Olympia and the closing night of the Olympia-Lacey Fan Zone.

The National Weather Service Office in Seattle forecast calls for a 60 percent chance of rain on Friday, June 26, with less than one-tenth of an inch of precipitation possible. The daytime high should be near 65 degrees with a west, southwest wind of 9 to 13 miles per hour (mph) with gusts as high as 21 mph.

There is a 40 percent chance of rain on Friday evening. The overnight low should be around 48 degrees with a southwest wind of 7 to 11 mph with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Rain is likely, mainly after 11 a.m., on Saturday, June 27. There is a 60 percent chance of precipitation with less than one-tenth of an inch possible. The daytime high should be near 66 degrees with a southwest wind of 6 to 8 mph.

Mostly cloudy skies are in the forecast for Saturday evening with an overnight low around 48 degrees. There is a 20 percent chance of precipitation on Sunday, June 28, with a daytime high near 64 degrees.

Capital City Pride Festival

The festival, which runs from June 26 to June 28, begins with a block party at 5th Avenue and Water Street from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. A Pride Soiree follows at Wild Child (414 4th Ave. E) from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Attendees must be 21 and over with advance tickets at $20. Tickets at the door are $25.

Day two features the Music & Art Pride Fest at Port Plaza and Percival Landing from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Admission is free. The Capitol Theater will host the Pride Variety Show from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets cost $25.

Later in the evening, Wild Child will host Pride’s Dance Floor from 10 p.m. to close. Attendees must be 21 and over. Tickets are $8.

The final day of the festival begins with the Rally Parade March from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The parade begins at Tivoli Fountain at the Washington State Capitol Campus, then makes its way down Capitol Way S to Heritage Park in downtown Olympia.

Dyke Day in the Park follows at Heritage Park from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Queerly Hilarious wraps up the festival at Wild Child from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The show is for adults 18 and over. Advance tickets are $18. Door tickets are $20.
