A string of days where daytime highs ranged from 90 to 95 degrees has given way to cooler conditions with rainfall on the horizon in Thurston County.
A National Weather Service Office in Seattle forecast calls for a high of 75 degrees on Thursday, Aug. 14, with partly sunny skies and a southwest wind of 8 miles per hour (mph).
Rain is likely to move into the region late Thursday evening with a 70 percent chance of precipitation. New precipitation amounts are estimated between one-quarter inch to one-half inch. The overnight low should be around 59 degrees.
The chance of precipitation climbs to 90 percent on Friday, Aug. 15, with a high near 67 degrees and a southwest wind of 7-13 mph with gusts up to 26 mph.
“New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch (are) possible,” the forecast states.
The chance for rain increases to 100 percent on Friday evening, with one-quarter inch to one-half inch possible. The overnight low should be around 60 degrees.
There is also a 90 percent chance of precipitation on Saturday, Aug. 16, with a daytime high near 74 degrees. There is a chance of showers on Saturday evening before 11 p.m., with an overnight low around 55 degrees.
The wet forecast comes on the heels of a number of hot days in the region with the warmest coming on Tuesday, Aug. 12, when the daytime high hit 95 degrees at 4:54 p.m., National Weather Service data shows. The highs for Monday, Aug. 11, and Sunday, Aug. 10, each measured 90 degrees.
