A serial rapist was uncovered by an Olympia police officer last year will be extradited to Thurston County for prosecution.
The Olympia Police Department said an officer temporarily assigned to the Detective Division in June 2022 investigated a rape with limited leads.
The officer eventually tracked a male suspect who traveled across the U.S. to rape women he befriended on social media.
The Olympia officer established probable cause for multiple rapes after speaking with several victims, the prosecutor, and other investigators from across the country, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for multiple Class A felonies.
The suspect was extradited to Thurston County from New York this week for prosecution.
