Regular unleaded gas inches higher in Olympia market

Posted

The average price of regular unleaded gasoline moved closer to an all-time high in the Olympia market, amid a ceasefire agreement in the Middle East conflict that calmed the oil market.

The price of regular unleaded gas rose to $5.462 per gallon on Friday, April 10, from $5.434 per gallon on Friday, April 3, according to data compiled by AAA.

The most recent reading leaves the average price of regular unleaded in the Olympia market within 11 cents of the all-time of $5.571 per gallon, which was set on June 13, 2022.

Gas prices have been on a tear in the state of Washington and the nation since the United States and Israel launched coordinated military operations against Iran on Feb. 28.

Despite the recent implementation of a ceasefire agreement, the flow of oil in the region continues to be largely blocked by Iran, which controls the Strait of Hormuz.

The Strait of Hormuz, which is a key passageway for oil shipments, connects the Persian Gulf with Arabian Sea and is bordered by Iran to the north and Oman to the south.

“Crude oil prices remain high, even as they’ve fluctuated in recent days following the announcement of a (two-week) ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran,” said AAA in its weekly gas prices report. “The price for a barrel of crude dropped below $100 but then rose again, highlighting the volatility of oil markets and fluidity of geopolitical events.”

The price at the gas pump is among the most expensive in the country for motorists in Washington, which had the third highest average for regular unleaded in the country this week. The average price for regular unleaded gas in Washington was $5.401 per gallon on April 10, up from $5.370 per gallon one week earlier.

California continued to lead the way at $5.916 per gallon on April 10, up from $5.895 one week ago, followed by Hawaii at $5.634 per gallon, up from $5.546 a week earlier. The national average clocked in at $4.153 per gallon on April 10, up from $4.091 one week ago.

In the state of Washington, the highest average price for regular unleaded gas was recorded in the Seattle-Bellevue-Everett market at $5.629 per gallon on April 10, up from $5.602 per gallon a week earlier.

The lowest average price for regular unleaded gas was recorded in the Clarkson market at $4.616 per gallon on April 10, down from $4.749 one week ago. AAA tracks gas prices in 14 markets across the state of Washington.

At least we are not paying the same as in the UK which is now $8 a gallon. The people in Nepal, when they can get it, are paying $5.50 a gallon yet the monthly salary for a school teacher is $200 monthly.

MAGA owns this mess and the world isn't going to forget it.

15 servicemembers dead. Billions spent every day. This is just the beginning.

MAGA should be lining up at the recruitment centers right now so they can fight the Epstein War themselves.

Aaaaand trump confirms that it'll get worse:

"A two-week ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran went into effect last week, inspiring hope that gas prices could start falling soon. But when Fox News host Maria Bartiromo asked President Donald Trump on “Sunday Morning Futures” whether he thought oil and gas prices could come down before the midterm elections, he said, “it could be the same or maybe a little bit higher.”

Pull harder on those bootstraps, patriots!
