Saint Martin’s University earns gold award in Best of South Sound

Saint Martin’s University received a gold award in the Higher Education category of the 2025 Best of South Sound awards.

Winners are selected through community votes, and awards recognize outstanding institutions that have a positive impact on the community. 

“We are deeply honored to be named the Gold winner in Higher Education once again,” said Bill Brownsberger, S.T.D., president of Saint Martin’s University, in an announcement about the award. 

“This recognition shows that we are living our mission of forming students who are dedicated to serving our community. I'm proud of the faculty, staff and students at Saint Martin’s who carry out that mission every day,” Brownsberger added.   

Saint Martin’s was founded in 1895 by Benedictine monks, and has served the community for more than 130 years. 

The stated the university offers a transformational educational experience that champions academic excellence, social mobility and a strong sense of community.  

Saint Martin’s has accredited, award-winning programs spanning from engineering, business and health to the arts and sciences.  

Each year, the university welcomes a diverse population that includes first-generation college students, military-affiliated students, international learners, working adults, and other people from all backgrounds pursuing degrees.  

“At Saint Martin’s, we believe in the potential and unique gifts that every student brings,” said Patty Lemon, dean of admissions, in the announcement.

“This award reflects our commitment to making higher education accessible and transformative for students who are ready to make a difference in their lives and in their communities.”  

Saint Martin’s thanked the South Sound community for its support and for recognizing the institution’s enduring commitment to empowering students and serving the common good.
