Saint Martin’s University, Oracle to train military personnel for careers in information technology

Saint Martin’s University announced it is teaming up with Oracle to train transitioning service members, veterans and military spouses in information technology.

Oracle is the company behind the world’s first autonomous database and the broadest suite of AI-powered cloud applications.

Through the partnership with Oracle for the Washington Vets to Technology (WaV2T) program, Saint Martin’s is expanding its established Server and Cloud Application career pathway to supplement the need for data center technicians.

Program participants will learn how to troubleshoot servers, manage inventory and logistics, and respond to operational incidents, among other technical skills.

Participants will also receive professional development support, including resume building, interview preparation, and access to a national network of hiring partners.

The 16-week, full-time program combines in-class instruction, immersive labs, hands-on exercises, and professional development activities at Saint Martin’s in Lacey.

“We’re aligning our training with one of the most essential sectors in today’s digital economy: data centers. The skills participants gain can open doors to employment opportunities and long-term career growth,” said Adam Takata, director of Washington Vets to Tech, in a statement.

Successful participants earn 18 college credits, an academic certificate from Saint Martin’s University, certification vouchers for CompTIA Tech+ and CompTIA Linux+, and interview opportunities for open positions at Oracle for eligible candidates.

“Saint Martin’s is proud to serve those who have served our country,” said Dave Olwell, Ph.D., interim provost at Saint Martin’s University, in a statement.

“This collaboration with Oracle not only strengthens our mission but delivers high-impact education to a community that deserves every opportunity to thrive in civilian life.”
