Several sites in Tumwater will be undergoing construction from Thursday, December 1, to Friday, December 2, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
According to the city, Capitol Boulevard South at its 5100 block and at Custer Way, as well as Barnes Boulevard SW at Ridgeview Loop SW, will have expected traffic disruptions with crews working on these areas.
The 5100 block Capitol Boulevard South will have single-lane closures to accommodate city contractors erecting signal poles and completing the installation of a Rectangular Rapid-Flashing Beacon (RRFB) system to improve pedestrian safety using the mid-block crosswalk.
At the Custer Way intersection, a signal pole will also be put up at its southeast corner, which the city explains is an “intermediate step in the addition of a new signalized crossing across the south leg of the intersection.”
“The new crosswalk will not be opened to the public until all the equipment is installed and operational,” explained Tumwater.
Barnes Boulevard will also have reduced traffic at these times, with RRFBs also being installed.
Questions and concerns can be sent to the city’s Transportation & Engineering Services Department at (360) 754-4140.
