Sewer improvement project underway in Tumwater

A sewer improvement project is making it a bit tougher for motorists to navigate a stretch of road in Tumwater.

Traffic lanes on Antsen Street SW from Sapp Road SW to Chapparel Drive have been reduced in order for construction of a new sanitary sewer force main in the northbound lane of Antsen Street SW, the City of Tumwater said in announcing the project details.

The work, which is expected to last through the end of July, is taking place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

“Final pavement restoration will be undertaken later in the summer as part of the 2025 Pavement Maintenance Project,” the City of Tumwater said.

“Two-way traffic will be maintained, with flagger controlled, alternating one-way traffic. Parking restrictions and temporary detours may be used during working hours. Both lanes will be reopened at the end of each workday.”

The road construction schedule is subject to change depending on weather, equipment and project delays. For more information, people can call 360-252-5408.
