Police caught up with him several blocks away

A man tried to shoplift over $350 worth of Macy’s goods from the Capital Mall store last Sun., April 18, only to be apprehended by Olympia Police shortly thereafter.

Aaron Parmley, 38, was witnessed at 1:30 p.m. running from the Macy’s store with an armload of items.  Olympia Police responded to a call from a bystander in the parking lot who advised the police dispatcher about seeing a man running from the store carrying a pile of clothes with tags, hangers and stickers still attached. Parmley ran from officers, and ended up in the Trader Joe’s parking lot nearly a mile away.

Parmley told Olympia Police that he was shopping at Macy’s and “got a stupid idea to steal a bunch of stuff because no one was manning the door or counter area.”

Olympia Police reported that multiple employees at Macy’s were unaware of their theft policy or procedures. This included the assistant manager, who didn’t know what to do and advised Olympia police that they would have to speak to the store manager.

The store manager advised that their loss prevention was not on duty and that no one was available to view or retrieve the store surveillance videos.

Parmley was booked into the Olympia jail, cited for theft, which included 2 pairs of shorts, 1 pair of pants, 2 shirts and a box of cologne. The total tagged items were estimated at $350, but after store discounts, would have been $215, according to the Olympia police report.

Not shocked. He’s a known thief . Has 3 theft charges out of 2 different counties. He’s gotta support his and his dads (Kip Parmley) meth/heroine habit.
