Two alleged shoplifters were arrested after one of the women walked out of a store with merchandise and sat in her car as it idled in the parking lot on May 18.

Olympia Police arrived two minutes after the initial report of shoplifting was made by the Ross Dress For Less at 3415 Pacific Avenue SE. As the patrol car entered the parking lot, they located the white Cadillac parked directly in front of the Ross entrance.

When contacted, Shawn Love, 31, of Fife, handed over her Washington State ID card and said that she wouldn’t lie to the officers, that she had stolen items from Ross, which were in the back seat of the Cadillac. The items were worth $533.78.

A search of Love’s purse revealed a metal de magnetizer used to take off/disable security tags to store items.

Love admitted to stealing from stores “hundreds” of times to re-sell the items. Love has an active warrant out of Fife for theft and a recent felony conviction for theft.

While Love was speaking to officers, her sister, Michelle Harvey, 30, of Lakewood, exited the store and stood nearby. Ross management told police that Love had been standing in line with Harvey who was checking out with a full cart, then while the cashier was distracted, Love exited the store with an “armload of clothes and several purses,” causing the alarms at the exit to go off.

Harvey was contacted by Olympia Police and dispatch advised that Harvey had an active warrant for domestic violence assault out of Lakewood. A search of Harvey’s purse revealed a small bag of methamphetamine.

Harvey was booked into the Nisqually Jail for her active warrant.

Love was booked into Olympia Jail for shoplifting.
