North Thurston county areas have been hit with both super-cold temperatures and snow that's sticking.  Many roads have ice under a layer of snow now. Here is the extended weather report

Here are announced closures: 

Thurston County Government

Thurston County offices will have a delayed opening on Thursday, December 30, with operations beginning at 10 a.m. This delayed opening is due to inclement weather.

Superior Court offices at the Main Campus, Family Juvenile Court (FJC), and Drug Court will open at 9:30 a.m. Superior Court morning calendars and hearings scheduled to begin before 9:30 a.m. will begin at 10 a.m.

District Court will also have a delayed opening, with in-person services beginning at 10 a.m. However, District Court will still conduct all court hearings as scheduled, to begin at 9 a.m. These will be conducted virtually via Zoom.

If you have a hearing with Thurston County District Court, you can find the Zoom login information for your hearing at: https://www.co.thurston.wa.us/distcrt/. Please refer to the middle of the webpage where you will find the Zoom login ID and password for your courtroom, and a link to the Zoom application. If you are unable to attend your hearing virtually, through Zoom, or will be delayed, please contact your attorney and District Court: 360-786-5450.

Schools

Yes, all schools are closed.  Not because of the snow, but because it is winter break!

YMCA Childcare programs

  • Michael T. Simmons closed Wed., Dec. 29.
  • Hanson, Centennial and Horizons will open at 9:00 a.m. (Effective tomorrow - Wed., Dec. 29)

Colleges and Universities

Bates Technical College: CLOSED for the rest of the week, Dec. 28-31.

Centralia College -- CLOSED through Fri., Dec. 31. Campuses set to reopen Mon., Jan. 3. 

The Evergreen State College  -- Campuses remain closed Thu., Dec. 30. "Operations are suspended." For more information, click here

Grays Harbor College  -- no info posted as of 6 a.m.

Pierce College -- Limited on-campus services start at 10 am. Most employees will work remotely.

UW Tacoma: As of 4:45 p.m. Wed., Dec. 29, UW Tacoma was set to resume operations today, Thu., Dec. 30. More info tacoma.uw.edu/2021snow 

The Olympia Center

The building is open today until 5:30.

  • Pickleball - 1:15 - 4 pm - $3 / person

Senior Services

All facilities closed today until Mon., Jan 3. 

Intercity Transit 

IT advises:  Buses may be running behind schedule due to road conditions

and "Buses will not stop on hills; passengers need to go to nearest stop at top or bottom of hills until further notice."

Some routes remain on standard or modified snow detours. They include:

  • Route 12 - will detour around Barnes Boulevard
  • Route 45
  • Route 47 - will use Harrison, left on Decatur where buses will resume normal routing
  • Route 64
  • Route 68 - will detour around Barnes Boulevard

All other routes are on regular routing.
