An atmospheric river delivered as predicted, bringing rain and snow to Thurston County on Friday, March 13.

Snow fell throughout the late morning in downtown Olympia and into the early afternoon, leaving the tops of some vehicles covered until the rain washed it away as the day progressed.

The dose of rain and snow marked several days of wet weather, as storms made their way through the region. But the inclement weather is going to give way to drier conditions on Saturday, March 14, before reversing course later in the weekend.

The National Weather Service Office in Seattle forecast calls for partly sunny to sunny skies on Saturday, with a daytime high near 47 degrees and a northwest wind of 8 to 14 miles per hour.

The outlook for Saturday evening is mostly cloudy skies with an overnight low around 29 degrees.

Rain is likely after 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 15, with a daytime high near 46 degrees. New precipitation of less than one-tenth of an inch is possible.

The evening forecast is similar with rain likely before 11 p.m. New precipitation of less than one-tenth of an inch is possible. Rain is also in the forecast through the middle of next week. Forecasts are subject to change.
