South Puget Sound Community College earns fourth gold in Best of South Sound

South Puget Sound Community College won a gold award as Best Community College for the fourth straight year in Best of South Sound. 

The Best of South Sound awards recognize groups and individuals contributing to the region. The winners are determined by community votes, the college said in a news release.

More than 331,000 votes were cast by over 2,000 businesses, organizations,and individuals across 215 categories this year.  

“Being named Best Community College by the people of the South Sound for the fourth consecutive year is a tremendous honor,” said South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) President Dr. Timothy Stokes in a statement.  

“This recognition reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students who make SPSCC a place of opportunity, innovation, and belonging. We’re proud to serve our community and remain committed to empowering every student to achieve their goals," he added. 

The award comes after the college was named as a national finalist with distinction by the Aspen Institute for Community College Excellence more than two months ago. 

The college caters to moe than 5,000 individuals, composed of degree-seeking students, high schoolers, veterans, international students and underemployed workers.  

The college has campuses in Olympia and Lacey.
