A pair of big postseason wins have vaulted the South Puget Sound Community College men’s basketball team into rarified air.

The Clippers advanced to the Final Four of the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) Basketball Championship tournament for the first time in program history with back-to-back wins last weekend, the community college’s athletics department announced on Monday, March 10.

The Clippers defeated the Edmond Tritons 78-73 in a Sweet 16 matchup on Saturday, March 8, and then knocked off the Portland Panthers 72-59 in an Elite 8 contest on Sunday, March 9.

“As the athletic director, it’s been a privilege to watch this program compete all year,” said South Puget Sound Community College Athletic Director Vernell Williams in a statement included in the announcement. “I am grateful that their hard work and dedication is paying off so far and I hope they can continue to stay locked in.”

The Clippers, who boast a 25-6 overall record, face the Southwestern Oregon Community College Lakers at Columbia Basin College’s Holden Court at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 15. The winner of the contest will advance to the championship game on Sunday, March 16.

The Final Four and NWAC championship games will be livestreamed on the NWAC Sports Network website for $16. Tickets are also on sale for $19 each or $35 for the Final Four and championship games.
