SPSCC welcomes first graduates of Residential Construction Academy

South Puget Sound Community College honored all seven graduates of its first graduating class from the Residential Construction Academy. 

The academy, run under a Home Builders Institute industry-certified curriculum, features hands-on lessons composed of lectures and devlopment of practical skills development in a nearly 10-week program. 

“South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) is excited to offer the Residential Construction Academy to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in our community. This program is your gateway to a rewarding career in the in-demand construction industry,” said the college on its website. 

The ceremony was held at the college’s Lacey campus on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

“Congratulations to the academy’s inaugural graduates: Aidan Anderson, Trevor Baker, Logan Burbank, Osbjorn Lamb, Hunter Lamb, Miles Pfenning, and Reynaldo Pinlac,” said the college in an announcement about the graduating class.

The college thanked program partners United Way of Thurston County, Olympia Master Builders and the Building Industry Association of Washington. 

The next cohort under the program starts training on Monday, Sept. 29. More information is available on the college’s Residential Construction page.

    Congratulations on this much need program, and to its first graduates. For me, sadly, I wish the photo had shown one female graduate. I hope that the college will reach out to women to apply for this training.
