Stolen-vehicle suspect fights state trooper

Handgun in possession

A suspect alleged to have stolen a vehicle was found fighting with a State Tooper, and a tazer was used on the suspect by a Thurston County Sheriff’s deputy (TSCO).

TCSO received a priority request for assistance from a State Trooper on Interstate 5 in Tumwater on Monday, January 22.

The trooper reportedly went silent on radio communication after encountering an occupied stolen vehicle. TCSO deputies and state troopers discovered upon arriving at the scene the trooper "actively fighting” with the suspect.

“Our responding deputy noted the suspect was actively attempting to gain access to their waistband/pocket area and was refusing to go into handcuffs,” TCSO reported in its social media post.

The deputy resorted to deploying a taser multiple times before successfully gaining compliance.

“A firearm was located on the suspect in the same area they were reaching for while resisting arrest,” TCSO stated.

Investigation revealed that the suspect had experienced a flat tire on the stolen vehicle, where the trooper found them by changing the tire on the side of I5.

No injuries were reported among TCSO deputies during the incident.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) is actively continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the stolen vehicle and the suspect's resistance.

I'm willing to bet if the criminal had been able to get his handgun he would have murdered the trooper.

I'm also willing to bet this criminal has a record as long as your arm, at least one warrant out for his arrest, and has been hand slapped a dozen times. This time keep him jail, judge. Car theft is NOT a victimless crime...someone is out a car, and they are NOT cheap.
